Are you a blogger who would like to make a difference?
Did you know that around 1000 women die from breast cancer every month? One in eight women will develop breast cancer at sometime in their lifetime. It is important to note that men also get breast cancer. The good news is that more people are surviving breast cancer due to greater awareness, improved treatments and better screening.
In my new role with Britmums, I have become aware of a Breakthrough Breast Cancer fundraising initiative. If I am to encourage other bloggers to blog about good causes, I felt I should have a go at doing something myself.
So I am looking for 90 generous bloggers to write about an important woman in their life in 90 words and to join in this blog hop. You can write about any woman that matters to you – a grandmother, a mum, a daughter, a friend, a blogger, a boss, whoever you wish. Posts can be as long or short as you wish. Somwhere in your blog post, please add the following words and thereby help Breakthrough Breast Cancer
“Pink Ribbon Bingo have pledged to support Breakthrough Breast Cancer all year round with 15% of the gross revenue accrued through online play on the site being donated to the charity. Visitors also have the opportunity to donate a percentage of their winnings directly to the charity. Along with the fundraising element, Pink Ribbon Bingo and The Daily Mail online will be helping the charity to raise awareness by promoting their vital health messages such as TLC (Touch, Look, Check).“
You can also add should you wish to do so …
“Celebrity supporter videos on the Pink Ribbon Bingo website including Jessie J, Melanie C, Tom Ellis, Macy Gray, Sharon Corr and Kelly Hoopen – http://www.pinkribbonbingo.com/ .
If you click on these YouTube links, you can hear Kate Thornton and Tamzin Outwaite’s support.

Tamzin: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BCh671wnj2o“
I have set a target of 90 bloggers and 90 word posts to reflect the 90 numbers in the game of bingo.
Also 90 words is not too demanding as I know bloggers are very busy people.
Will you join in and support Breakthrough Breast Cancer?
90 posts seems an ambitious target but I am putting my faith in the blogging community.
Ready, steady, blog and link up.
Thank you in anticipation. The linky looks odd but if you click on it, it does work.

Pingback: Bloggers Wanted To Blog About A Woman Who Matters To Them For Breast Cancer Charity
i was involved with 4 other tweeters with Breakthrough Breast Cancer in 2010 we walked dthe pembroke coast and raised £2000 alone from otherr tweeters. i lost my gran and unccle to cancer and a close family friend off my parents is living her last few months/year out to it.
i wont be able to write a blog as my family read my blog and dont like me discussing their issues, despite the impact it has on me.
i’ll pimp you out on twitter though as i do know quite alot of people affecteed by cancer on there
Count me in!
This is a great idea, and I will have a go and see what happens, is the 90 words about that person and then the rest is additional words (yes I’m being dumb at the moment, brain not working!) X
I’m in! Great cause! x

Brilliant idea. Would so love to help. But 90 words is not enough for me to say how the loss of my Mother and my dear friend have changed my life. I am a Challenger for Breakthrough and also a CAN member and any small part I can play in a future free from the fear of Breast Cancer is a part worth playing. I have written a blog on this issue and if it could be connected in any way to your target that would be excellent- but it is long. http://newtonhouseltd.blogspot.com/2011/10/breaking-through-past-present-and.html
I hope to join in!

I’m in. I decided not to write about something BC related, however this is an incredibly worthy cause, and I’m also so up for praising women in my life at any opportunity. In the words of someone or other – so many women, so little time!
Thanks for kicking this off. I hope that you hit your 90 asap. I have read through quite a few of the posts linked up, and they are so moving.
I’ve written up a story I’ve been meaning to for ages – loved the challenge of fitting it in 90 words, great idea!

Hey Kate,
So sorry, but my first link didn’t work and in trying to re-do it seem to have taken up 2 slots! The entry 46 does sort of link to my blog, but the entry 44 doesn’t go anywhere. Do you know how I can cancel/unlink it?
Here’s where I was trying to go anyway:
