We were delighted to review a lovely Christmas hamper from Knorr. This led us to investigate their fantastic website at http://knorr.co.uk where you can find some wonderful recipes just in time for a foodie New Year.
As soon as we saw the contents, we knew we were in for a festive feast.
SELDOM SEEN FARM TURKEY 4.5-5.5kg
ONGMAN’S FARM BUTTER 250g
EMMETT’S MILD CURE BACK BACON 250g
FORMAN & FIELD CHRISTMAS STUFFING 500g
SELECTION OF FRESH HERBS
1 X ORANGE
12 x LUXURY MINCE PIES
CHAPEL DOWN NECTAR DESSERT WINE 50cl
2 Knorr Chicken Gravy Pots
To be honest, we usually settle for a smaller bird and one that comes pre-prepared with herbs and so on so the idea of having a generous turkey with all the trimmings after our troublesome year really appealed.
Having the hamper delivered meant we could escape the heavy queues at the supermarket. Christmas shopping is tough with three children who want to be at home watching films, doing crafts and chilling after their hard work at school.
I took the delivery and excitedly unpacked the lovely items within the huge box.
Once my husband saw it, he declared he would prepare Christmas dinner this year so a double win there for sure.
My son was straight at the luxury mince pies closely followed by his Dad.
Not only did we have the ingredients but we also had a memory stick with the recipe for a perfect meal adding a herby orange twist to turkey plus a smokey bacon baste. This also appears on the Knorr website together with lots of fabulous recipes to keep the 12 days of Christmas and beyond special in the food department.
On Christmas Day, my husband dutifully cooked the meal with me only doing a carrot and coriander soup for our starter. It was superb and having the orange herby mix under the skin was great.
The stuffing was gorgeous and included cranberries.
The turkey when cooked was moist, easy to carve and certainly made you want to go back for more.
