Today I am having a day that I would describe as lacklustre.
Yes, pleasant things have happened but on the whole, I feel a bit of limbo waiting for major things to happen soon but not yet. So I am house-hunting, website designing, keeping up with friends and yet have an underlying feeling of being a bit fed up. Not hugely, just that little bit.
So as today is Groovy Mums Wednesday and I was supposed to be writing about things that might inspire others, you could say I am in the wrong mood to do so.
Digging deep, what inspires me?
There is music of all types. Songs like “I can see clearly now the rain has gone” and bold rock songs. Then there are my dabbles with classical music where I like Bach in particular. “A Country Suite” by Fiona Bennett which I reviewed on the blog yesterday is also lovely and may help shift my low mood today.
I find quirky items in charity shop that might inspire me. I spy a tile on my mantlepiece that announces “Happiness comes through doors you didn’t even know you left open”. I bought this when an old friend got in touch with me after about 30 years. She emailed me today and I was pleased to hear from her.
There is the Footprints prayer that I first saw in my brother’s house when I was a child.
There are globes which I have a thing about and which inspire me to see the world.
Books of course are an obsession even though I find it hard to get time to read them in peace. I bought 3 books this week at the charity shop, one on angels, one of management and one on being a mum. I wonder if they define me in some way.
There is art too particularly if the sea features in some way – beach huts, lighthouses, far horizons.
This is a very rambling post. I have a lot on my mind at the moment.
So over to you dear reader, what inspires you?
Leave me a comment and if you blog on how you are inspired to change your life in ways large or small, you can link up here https://kateonthinice.wordpress.com/2012/06/27/how-to-be-a-groovy-mums-the-britmumslive-edition/ and I will promote your post.
