Fancy a night out or a night in?

Even with the most positive mind-set in the world, sometimes we all need a pick me up. Although it does not happen often enough for me, there is no better feeling than a night in with other women.

I can very easily come up with a list of female bloggers and old friends who I would love to bring together for a night in putting the world to rights and indulging in a glass of wine or two. Any takers?

As a Mum it is easy to lose a sense of self and getting together with some great women can remind you that you are a person in your own right.

What is best though – a night in or a night out?

I read a survey by Ladbrokes Bingo which can be seen here which found that 70% of women actually prefer a night in. I can see their reasoning as nights out can be very expensive and sometimes a lot less fun than staying at home and letting your hair down.

Staying in with a take away, a bottle of wine, a movie and lots of gossip can be wonderful, especially when you’re surrounded by your closest friends.

Everyone is counting the pennies these days and it is amazing how a group staying in can work out to be high on fun and low on cost.

Some women in the survey said a night out is best for excitement. There is something about getting ready for a night out, turning the music up loud as you get out of the school run gear and pamper yourself a bit before setting off. It was always fun to experience that sense of anticipation but it is even more precious nowadays when parenting and other commitments mean nights out are rare.

The survey claimed that over half of the women interviewed believe that there’s an age limit on going out into town and put it at a scary 27. Ah well, I always liked breaking rules.

It is true that as you get older the appeal of stumbling back home at 5am loses its appeal, but it’s all about finding the right balance for you.

If you’re looking to relax, have a chat and a gossip, a night in is perfect.

On the flip side, if you’re looking for excitement and a bit of a confidence boost, there should be nothing stopping you from painting the town red, no matter what your age. Just have fun!
