Are you an active family? Could you incorporate a little more healthy exercise in your family life?
Mary Warner Holidays have set our family the challenge to do just that.
I have children aged 7, 9 and 12. They are not sporty by nature and like so many children seem more interested in their computer games than taking exercise.
At least that is what I thought till I asked them to Go for a Spin!
“Let’s go outside and have some fun!” I said thinking it was most unlikely to work. My sons dropped their remote controls and my daughter put down her paints. They were in the outside in seconds ready to play.
My oldest son got on his bike which is his pride and joy despite being a second-hand bargain. This shows you do not have to spend lots to take healthy exercise.
We went to the park where the younger two went on a roundabout spinning around merrily. My daughter actually prefers posing prettily whilst her little brother loves racing round and making the roundabout go faster.
My youngest son is still getting to grips with bike-riding but has a good attempt.
We were in the park for over a hour and enjoyed the walk home too in the sunshine. It is so easy to stay at home not doing much and every member of the family benefits from fresh air and doing something a bit different.
Back in the garden, the skateboards came out. When my daughter said she wanted a skateboard as part of the spin challenge, we were cynical but she loves it. Of course, as soon as she had a skateboard her brother wanted one too but they are affordable and great fun. Even Daddy had a go! He was not so keen to have his photograph published though lol!
When it comes to getting active, the cat may take a little more persuading!
One of the wonderful things about taking exercise is that it justifies the feast afterwards.
Mark Warner Holidays specialise in active family holidays with a wide range of things to try such as tennis, cycling, windsurfing and swimming. This month they are encouraging families to get active at home too.
On a Mark Warner holiday it might be chalet hotels in ski resorts that appeal most or they have fantastic beach resorts in amazing locations chosen for their wonderful water sports and tennis facilities.
For parents who want to incorporate grown-up fun into their holiday, Mark Warner packages provide superb childcare with kids clubs for all ages and free evening creche service. What family would not want to check that out?
Chalet hotels in ski resorts are hand picked for their location and charm and the fabulous beach resorts are in gorgeous locations chosen for the superb water sports and tennis facilities.
Our family has been selected to take part in the Mark Warner Active Family Blogger challenge along with another 9 bloggers. The idea is to inspire other families and encourage everyone to stay fit and healthy.
As someone who is trying to lose weight and get fitter so that I am around for my children in the long-term, this is just the impetus we need.
Check out Mark Warner’s inspiration to get active.
Active Family Blogger Challenge
Your challenge is to commit to spending a minimum of one hour per week taking part in a designated activity as a family. We’d like you to write a blog post about your experience each week, inspiring your readers with photos and maybe even asking your children to write about their experience.
Entries will be read by a carefully selected panel of judges from Mark Warner holidays.
Judging and Prizes
Judges will be looking for a creative and inspiring approach to family fitness and the winner will be awarded a family holiday for up to four at Mark Warner’s resort in San Lucianu, Corsica
Hello there! Quick question that’s totally off topic. Do you know how to make your site mobile friendly? My site looks weird when browsing from my iphone. I’m trying to find a template or plugin that might be able to resolve this problem.
If you have any recommendations, please share. Many thanks!
