Big Night In with the family

It is all too easy to get stuck in a rut at home.  Too many evenings watching television or playing on video games when with a little imagination you can have so much more fun.

We were challenged by MoneySupermarket to have a Big Night In.

We started by buying some pizza bases and a range of toppings.  The children loved making their own pizzas.  They all have different tastes so relished the opportunity to create their own pizza choice.  My daughter loved putting more pineapple than you would normally have on a pizza on hers.  My son went for a weird garden pea and sweetcorn option.  I narrowly prevented him putting chocolate sprinkles on top!

Throwing caution to the wind, I brought out the fondue pot and we had chocolate fondue with strawberries and bananas for dessert.

I am a big fan of cocktails so we decided to incorporate non-alcoholic mocktails into the evening.  We came up with some really awesome colour and taste sensations.  It made the children feel very grown-up with their very own version of cocktails.

We went along to a supermarket and invested in a box that contained several old-fashioned fun type games such as snakes and ladders, ludo, chess and draughts.  We created our very own board game “It’s a Knockout” type party.  There was fierce competition and a lot of laughter too.  This was not a night for early bedtimes – too much fun was being had by all.

What we learned from our Big Night In is that it is great to use a little imagination to spice things up a bit and make an evening that little bit different.

Money Supermarket gave us £50 to facilitate our fantastic evening.
