After #BritMumsLive, I find myself exhausted, enthused and elated in roughly equal measure.
It is easy to forget how you reach the points that you do and to remember to say thank you to those who helped you on the way.
I am sending a a huge thank you to all involved in Mummy from the Heart’s Reasons to be Cheerful. Mich most of all for having the idea to have a weekly focus on positivity in the first place and all the lovely ladies and gents who have got involved since. It is a lovely community offering peer support in challenging times and celebrating with you when things go well.
1. My number one reason to be cheerful this week is that I went to BritMums, survived two speaking sessions and lived to tell the good bits https://kateonthinice.wordpress.com/2012/06/26/what-were-the-best-bits-of-britmums-live/ and the truly awful bits https://kateonthinice.wordpress.com/2012/06/25/what-were-my-worst-bits-of-the-britmums-live-weekend/
2. My son is smiling which we are taking as a really good indication that he is enjoying his induction into secondary school. He has made new friends and his major bully has being put in another class altogether.
3. I feel I have a friend or two in the making since BritMumsLive and I find that really exciting. I have felt very isolated for a lot of years. I am not a person who finds it easy to make friends but I feel I have some in the blogging community now. Thank you ladies.
You know who you are and are probably running for the hills as we speak.
4. My children had a good time with their half-sister whilst I was at BritMums. They don’t go to stay with people so this was a huge deal for them. It went well and I think it was amazing for them to spend some quality time with Caz and her family.
5. When I wake up from the whole BritMumsLive experience, I have huge changes planned. I will be blogging in a different way, being more proactive about business and taking strides with my other writing. I will also be getting back to the healthy eating and exercise routines.
6. We have more #mums4good shopping online and supporting charity at the same time. What do you mean you have not signed up yet? You can do that here http://www.give.as/savingbabieslives or via the BritMums/ambassadors websites.
I have the power in me and you have it in your too. Let’s get started!
I am so enthused by what you’ve written about Britmums that I am extremely keen to go myself next year. Looking forward to reading about what your planned changes are and how they are panning out. Polly
Thanks Polly. Get me replying to comments at last, shows I listen to feedback.
I can’t think of a better companion. Let’s make it a date!
Brilliant. See you there. Px
SO glad the bully was put somewhere else. That is one of my biggest fears for when my son starts school is being a target of a bully. He has such a gentle, sweet, sensitive nature already that I just fear he could be a pick for it.
Sadly I think it is those sort of people who bullies target but just be vigilant so you spot it if it happens and develop a good partnership with the school. Thanks for commenting
A blog hiatus is often a good thing – I’ve done it a few times and I’m not a “big” blogger at all but even if you are just a personal/obscure blogger it can affect personal, private life and the emotional needs of yourself. I’m glad you aren’t getting rid but just taking time off. Take off as much time as you need and come back when you are ready. The naked blogging. It’s something I do sometimes but even then it’s tempered a bit …I’m still careful. I can’t imagine making an entire blog out of posting that way. I’d always feel so vulnerable! But that’s just me!!!
Oh, sorry – I read your recent post (the response this is for) but replied here …duh! As for an appropriate response to THIS reply by you – I definitely find it a challenge to teach my son how to react to bullying if it happens. In a way that will keep it from happening again. No violence but a confidence and strength to shrug it off, walk away, and tell the appropriate adults (school personnel as well myself) so we can nip that in the bud! I guess there are probably several books written on the subject. I’m sure. It’s sadly an epidemic here in the states!
I wasn’t at Britmums this year. So glad you got so much out of it. I would’ve loved to have met you had I been there!! Maybe next year??
Another date for BritMums Live with you Wendy. Was very nervous about it all but folks were friendly and I feel so much better having gone and experienced it all.
Glad you enjoyed BritMums – well done for having such an amazing experience (I’m sure you looked more Marilyn Monroe-esque than you think!). Brilliant news for your son – it’s a very big step, but it’s good to hear he seems to be coping well!
I look forward to reading about and seeing the big changes – good luck with it all!
So great to have you as part of our #R2BC gang, you have been one of the biggest supporters since the start. Speaking at BritMums was pretty awesome, wasn’t it?
Glad your son is bedding in at school and love that you used the E letter this week.
Mich x
So happy that the bully has been moved. I am glad your son is happier, that is great news. I am so pleased you enjoyed #Britmumslive, I really hope I will be able to attend next year.
I am so pleased that you enjoyed britmums live and have made some new friends. I remember you posting a comment on my blog a couple of weeks ago and I was willing you to enjoy it. So pleased your son is enjoying Secondary School, such a worry isn’t it?
